Nurse Practitioner has once again been ranked at the top healthcare job and second best of any job in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report.

NPs had the same ranking in last year’s report. It is also listed as the career with the most job security.

Just a few months ago, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected nurse practitioner to be the fastest-growing job in the country. BLS estimates NP positions will grow 45 percent between 2021 and 2031 as healthcare facilities use a team approach that uses NPs, physician assistants and other healthcare providers rather than a physician. That projected growth is one of the factors U.S. News uses in its rankings

It also ranked NPs above average for opportunities for advancement but below average for availability of alternative work schedules and for work life balance. It ranked NPs above average for stress levels.
